Radix reports $2 million premium revenue in 2020 H2

New top level domain company’s TLDs generated about $4 million in retail premium revenue last year.

Radix has released data about premium domain sales within its ten top level domains from the second half of last year.

The company estimates that total retail premium revenue was $2.014 million, up slightly from the first half of the year. Radix charges wholesale fees to registrars and has to estimate what registrars charge their customers in some cases.

Of this amount, $861k was from new registrations of 1,194 domains. .Tech led the way with 260 domains for $273k, followed by 238 domains in .online for $173k and 246 in .store for $152k.

Renewal revenue accounted for the remaining$1.153 million of revenue. .Online had the highest renewal revenue at $334k.

Radix charges premiums for each annual renewal, not just a premium first-year price. It reported that 60.5% of premium domains were renewed after one year. Those that were renewed once were subsequently renewed 63.3% for a second time. After that, renewal rates jumped to 80.1%.
