Miller Lite gets clever with domain names.
Miller Lite’s Super Bowl ad will make watchers think about URLs. Really, really, long URLs.
The company has published an 836-letter URL anchored on the 62-character second level domain thismillerlitemarketingstuntwilldistractyoufromultrasbiggamead.com. That’s 66 characters if you include .com.
Anyone who types in the 836-word URL on February 7 will get $8 in their Venmo account.
Miller Lite is publishing the URL in print and other ways people can’t easily copy and paste it. Of course, someone is likely to type it into a URL shortener and share it on social media.
Only the first 5,000 viewers will get the $8, which is enough for a six-pack of watered-down beer.
It will be interesting to see what other domain names make a splash this weekend.
