Squadhelp notifies users about new domain registrations in alternate extensions.

Squadhelp is a fast-innovating domain name marketplace with lots of neat features. Here’s one example.

I received an email from Squadhelp today notifying me that someone registered one of my second level domains in another extension during the past 30 days. The email didn’t identify which extension it was, but since I own the .com, there’s a chance that a new company might be interested in my domain.

The email advised me to look at my current list price for the domain and consider updating it.

Many domain investors consider how many extensions a second level domain is registered in before buying the domain. But we rarely notice new registrations that occur after we register the domain.

The domain Squadhelp notified me about, SmartAdvisors.com, is registered in 33 extensions. So one more might not change my pricing expectations. But I think this is a useful feature for domain investors and kudos to Squadhelp for this added benefit.

I think this would be a nice feature for dotDB, a service that tracks registrations, to offer to its paid users.
