The .cloud top level domain name turned 5 today.

To celebrate the milestone, .cloud released a premium domain report (pdf) that sheds light on premium domain revenue in 2020.

Overall, the company sold $320,000 of premium domain names last year. About $200,000 of this was through the registrar channel and the remainder was brokered sales.

The top three brokered sales were energy.cloud for $50,000, power.cloud for $24,360 and simple.cloud for $14,825.

The channel sales consisted of 155 premium domains at an average price of $1,315.

GoDaddy is the market share leader for both the number of premium domains sold and revenue. Hexonet must have had at least one big sale; it represented 4% of sold premium domains and 18% of revenue.

There are about 200,000 .cloud domains in the namespace.
